Basic Level
The first phase of the Choir and Singing School's four-stage education is the Basic Level for girls aged 7 to 8. The course, usually lasting one year, is undertaken with a relatively small group that should contain no more than fifteen girls.

The teaching content and time (one hour per week) is based upon a didactic concept which is geared toward the musical experience and behaviour of children at this age. Thus, a playful handling of vocal resonance, breathing and posture is at the forefront.
Simple canons, folk and play songs form the musical repertoire. This is developed free from the considerations of a stage performance, but instead experienced and performed using movement and body language.
In the same way as aural skills in the rhythmic and melodic area are integrated playfully, here, the conscious targeted handling of sounds is introduced through solmisation (the method of linking musical syllables with hand signs and gestures).
